On Saturday the 30th November 2002 the NKJJS held an open street
Self Defence Seminar with the top Kempo JuJitsu Instructor Hanshi
Peter Browne. Hanshi was in the highlands attending to some final
arrangements for the Gathering of the Masters Seminar June 2003 at
Coylum Bridge near Aviemore. Hanshi Browne had sent on two of his
senior black belt students Sensei Sonny Hyatt and Sensei John Day
to teach ( Friday the 29th November 2002 ). After a brief sight seeing
tour the two senseis put us through our paces ( Brown Belts and Black
Belts ) They gave us a good hard workout and taught us many new techniques.
Saturday
the day of the seminar. It was hectic right from the start. Mats had
to be taken to the venue and senseis to be picked up etc. Around 30
students turned up and everyone had a great time. The day seemed to
go in very quickly. Students came from Japan, Islay, Brora, Wick,
Thurso and locally. Japan you might ask !!! Ayumi a top Japanese Judoka
was in the area staying with relatives. She had seen the seminar advert
in the local paper and came along to the seminar. As with everyone
who attended the seminar she thoroughly enjoyed herself. She also
met the local Judo Instructor Sensei Beavis ( enabling her to continue
her judo training while in the highlands ). Thanks go to Sensei Beavis
who reorganized his judo class enabling the seminar to go ahead.
Back to the seminar. Hanshi showed many knife and stick techniques
and even made us revise them at the end ( my my its easy to say yes
I know the technique and then the mind go completely blank when you
go to do it ! )

Many thanks go to Hanshi Browne for taking time out from his very
busy schedule and coming north to do the seminar.
